Crime Comics with recurring characters?
« on: September 06, 2010, 05:41:44 PM »

Howdy folks, I've recently become interested in pre-code Crime Comics and would like to find some with recurring characters.

The question is are there any?

The only one I've managed to find was Ken Shannon from Quality, and I like it very much any other recommendations?

Thanks,

Michael

I know that they exist, but I am not really up to date on the genre. People will pipe in though.

You might also want to try Kerry Drake (Harvey), The Saint (Avon), and even Charlie Chan (Charlton) Cheers, Bowers

OOPS! Scratch Charlie Chan from the above list-  The Kerry Drake and Saint issues on this site do appear to be all or mostly pre-code. Cheers, Bowers

Well, Police Comics also had Ken Shannon.  It also had T-Man who had his own comic.

I've just been looking over Ziff-Davis' Crime Clinic and noticed that the character of Dr. Tom Rogers has stories in every issue.

Let's not forget recurring animals!  ;)

Rang-aTang the Wonder Dog solves crimes with his master in Blue ribbon Comics (Archie).

I believe there was a Doctor Justice and a Doctor Mercy who solved some crime. There are also the Crime Reporters like Casey who end up solving the crimes. Camera Comics is full of them
