Absolutely.  Better to have 52 pages than none.

Since there's not a lot of these around I want to place as much data on the title page as possible involving the book.

STAR RANGER #4, 1937  Large Size,  Ultem Publ./Centaur Publications
Unfortunately I'm working from a 14 yearold Overstreet guide.

What other data might be added to the page?
Thanks

That's STAR RANGER #4, from 1937, a 64-pager.

Well, not so much what I want as much as what the more experienced readership think should be placed on there. Any pertinent data I suppose. Similar to what Grand Data will include. I sent a PM to JVJ to see if he might be able to preview the pages and supply something along the lines of his index card info.

Heritage doesn't have a cover available and it's missing the three outer wraps except for probably a single leaf from one of those wraps which is ripped and mangled. I will iron that page out and include it as a matter of principle.

What else do you want?

Here are my notes on Star Ranger #4 from the copy I perused at Fairleigh-Dickenson Univ. in 1984:
Star Ranger 6/37
(indicia data from issue #3 - 5/37 is:
Centaur Pubs Inc. / 420 DeSoto / editorial at 276 5th Ave, NYC, NY / Kenneth Fitch - Managing Editor)
Note: since I didn't add similar information for #4, only two possibilities occur to me: 1. issue 4 was coverless or 2. the information was the same. - wish I knew which after 25 years....
At Sunset ("by Will Harr")  by Bob Jenny???  1 page
Tend(sp?) Joe by Schwab                         2 pages
Ace & Deuce by William M. Allison               4 pages
Taca by Fred B. Guardineer*                     4 pages
Death Rides the Stage by Astarita              2 pages
West That Was by W. M. Allison*               1 page
Chief Two-Gun White Calf by Speed?           1 page
The Square Ups (text) w by Bart Reynold    3 pages
        text illustrations by Astarita*
The Last Hand (text) w by Charles R. Allen   3 pages
        text illustrations by F.B. Guardineer*
Gay Desperado (poem) by FB Guardineer?     1 page
Real Man by Rafael Astarita*                     3 pages
Out Where West Begins by J.G.C.*             1 page
        (= Jim Chambers?)
Lyin Lou by F.B. Guardineer*                      2 pages
Pedro & Pancho by Jim Chambers*              2 pages
Palsy-Walsy by J.G.C.*                             1 page
Western Facts by W.M. Allison                   1 page
Tubby/T-Bone by J.G.C.*                          3 pages
(cartoon) by Will Eisner*                           1 page

Hope that helps.

Well ya!  snorK*
Thanks.

When searching for the loose page, which ended up being right in front of me all the while, I found the remains of the, well, what was the other half of the loose wrap which means besides missing the covers it is short 2 1/4 wraps instead of 3.

Coming Soon, to that theater near you. All in Color, and for Less than a Dime. :P

by the way, there is a centerfold splash page in the book. I have seen some here do a fantastic job joining the 2 pages to a single large panel and I don't think I have it in me to do it.

Might there be someone here who would be willing to take on the work of joining the two centerfold pages?

I can do it for you if you wish.  You can email me the images at JIngersoll5 (at) comcast (dot) net and I'll do it.  I might not get to oit until Friday.

For anyone, the basic secret (in Photoshop) is to use the ruler tool to first make sure each part is absolutely straight.  Put the ruler tool along the top or bottom border and type alt-I E A (Image, rotate, arbitrary) then hit {enter} to rotate the image so it's straight.

Once both halves are straight, enlarge the canvas (not image) size of one image so both halves will fit.  Copy the other image and paste it into the enlarged image.  Set the opacity of this layer to 50% so you can see the other image underneath.  Then move the top image until they align perfectly.

Reset teh opacity back to 100% and flatten the image so the two layers merge.  Then save the image.

Looks like the years of buying boxes of the coverless, loose covers and loose pages wasn't such a bad idea after all. Kinda wondered what was in those:o

And, no, we don't have it.

Got this thing going on with the Duke since my first intro into scanning

so when I saw a raw scan of Triple Threat from Narfstar on the Download site I thought to straighten it up a bit.
So,

Coming Soon to That Theater near you!!! Triple Threat Winter Edition with an appearence of The Duke of Darkness. :-\
