I'm having doubts on it being PD Rez.
Best ask Aussie or JCOLAG in a PM to check if it's OK for the site.

Thanks,

Well duh! Now that's hurtin' ground rightthere as I just scanned it tonight and am cleaning it up now.
Oh well, at least it'll get out there somewhere as a meager morsel. Better than lying dead and unknown. (The book, not me, but I'm feeling like that right about now. Goodbye cruel world!)

Sorry for raining on your parade here Rez.
The question of PD on licensed characters will always be there.  That's why I've been suggesting people avoid them and stick with books far more likely to be PD.

In this case, it's not even a licensing issue (which makes everything complicated, as noted).  The series itself was renewed on schedule in '81 by Terrytoons/Viacom.

'These cawds aw mawked!'

'Go Fische!'

Well, I tried using the upload button on the Download site but kept getting an Error message when I had to log on. I normally leave it logged in same as in the message forum.

The Message Forum and last 100 downloads are still logged in and functioning so i don't know what the deal is with the download site.

I went ahead and tried uploading to the site thru the upload button anyhow and just changed the name from guest to rez and it uploaded but how well I have no idear.

So just went ahead and used the FTP again.

Hey, rez,
what's your technique for turning the 3D pages into 2D?

Curious minds like to know...

Regardless, Captain Marvel Jr. 114 as a paperscanned replacement is now in the FTP.

Many years ago I recall finding a coverless Joe Palooka #1 sitting off by itself at an outdoor fleamarket which I managed to acquire and I see it is missing on the Palooka listing which got me thinking.

I know I have to have it buried somewhere so I'll dig it up for scanning unless someone else has a better copy as I'll just be adding a cover from Heritage.

Joe Palooka #1 would be great Rez.  Is this a giant (maybe 100 page comic)?  I think we might be able to get cover scans from someone with an extremely nice copy he's been understandably reluctant to scan.

ya know, don't even know if it is a 100pger or not, in that it hasn't been seen in many years but know it must still be there as I rarely if ever sell my books anymore and would recall if I had.

When the time presents itself will go digging but must admit it is a question where to start in the stash.

If perchance I go missing from here for too long please send someone to search as I may be pinned under fallen boxes. : o)

As of yet No Joe and am running out of ideas where he may be so it does not look promising.
However, I did manage to unearth this late 30s morsel I need help in identifying.

What I have are 26 pages which may or maynot represent a 52pager in that there is one loose mangled page that was wadded up somewhat and loose in the bottom of the box the coverless 52pages was found in

which is of the same size and browning as the book but the storyline on the page has no place in any story from the book which makes me think it is just a loose page from who knows where.

Following the splash page 'Words Without Music' is a 2page 'Null and Void', a 2pg Ace&Deuce story with a WM Allison sig, a 2pg 'Cowboy Jake', a 4 pg 'AirPlunder', 'WildWest, Junior' 2 pg, 4 pg 'Tala' by Norman Daniels illus Fred Guardineer,

2pg 'Death Rides the Stage', 1 pg 'The West that Was WMAllison , a couple more 1 pg HomelessOscar& Cheif TwoGun Whitecalf and a 3pg story Illustrated short story 'The Square Ups' by Bard Reynolds illus by R. Astarita

then a sweet centerfold of 'The Old Prospector' (pipe smoker in front of his cabin with a dream balloon of the old west covered wagon scene over his head while an airplane flys by the cabin.)

Another 3pgshort story TheLastHand by Charles R. Allen and stories titled The Gay Desperado1,TommyHawk2, Realman3, Out Where...1, Lyin Lou2, Pedro&Pancho2, PoisonWater3, Praire Dog1,Palsy-Walsy1, JessPhoolin1 and the book finishing with 5 more 1pg shorts.

Hope someone might be able to identify the book for scanning. May be able to get a cover from off Heritage. Thanks.

Looks like a Star Comics or a Star Ranger from 1937/38 Rez. I have VERY few of these and they are currently all out on loan to Greg Sadowski, so I can't confirm anything for you. Sorry.

The Astarita looks to be dated '37, which would jibe with the Star ID.

Thanks Jim, were those books 52pagers?
Wondering if I have the complete book minus the cover wrap.

Thanks for the clarification, dm. I was pretty sure that it was a 64-pager, but couldn't be positive. Now we know.

Thanks darkmark, so that loose page was from the missing 3 wraps then.
Now the question should I scan what I have?
