PD GA Sword & Sorcery/high fantasy/Medieval type books?
« on: August 16, 2012, 02:58:18 AM »

Hello there, first post!

I am looking for books with S&S, high fantasy, Medieval, Arthurian type art etc.  Black Knight is great, Cromm by Buscemna is groovy, and some of the Frazetta stuff can be be squeezed in as well.

Are there any other good candidates for his kind of stuff?  Knights & armor, D&D type thieves, wizards, mythical monsters, battles, pirates, etc.  Valor from EC would be perfect, but that is not PD.  Anyone else do a book like that?

Oh yeah, and crazy creepy monsters too!

Cheers

Papercut, if you go to the non-English section, under Spanish you will find, "El Defensor de la Cruz":-

That might appeal but it is in Spanish.  Spain produced many medieval/historical type heroes and more will appear on CB+ just as soon as I can track them down.
In the UK section, Comet has Claude Duval, a cavalier hero who was very popular in UK and had some adventures collected in his own title in Super Thriller Library.  He's not in all issues, most likely later numbers, I think, you'll just have to look through them and remember that these were weekly comics so you didn't have to wait long for the next part.
Also Sun had Ivanhoe and Dick Turpin strips.  D.T. was also very popular and is really well drawn.  Have a look through.  Good luck.

So great!  TY for the help!  Language is not an issue, primarily looking for the art.

Charlton did a Robin Hood comic: https://comicbookplus.com/?cid=1217

Avon's Earthman On Venus may not be quite what you're looking for, but it's rather ERB-like and pretty good: https://comicbookplus.com/?dlid=14923
