Cap Stone
« on: July 04, 2013, 06:56:49 PM »

Reading the Cap Stone story from Captain Aero #1, I am struck by a conflict between my memory and this story. I seem to remember clearly a very different story and very, very different art, but with the exact same text on the first page (basically outlining a whole background story and status quo in just a couple of panels). I would chalk this up to just a faulty memory if not for the fact that I've seen the scripts of various stories used almost verbatim in parts for different characters (such as Bogeyman's origin is almost identical to a Yellowjacket story) and a few cases of a new script applied to the artwork of a pre-existing story. The problem is I don't know which comic or character I recall it from. Any clues?

I have no idea but these would be great things to track down and record at GCD.

What's especially infuriating, is that the info I have on my site is of the Captain Aero comic leading me to believe that a) the other character is also called Cap Stone and b) when I read the story I didn't know which comic it came from and got the publishing info from the GCD because the story in Aero is not familiar to me at all. It's not on any of the discs that I have of random characters, so I'm thinking I read the story on a site that either didn't include the publishing info or at least not the correct info. But, I cannot find a reference to another Cap Stone. OR, it's possible that the Cap Stone entry I have on my site, I got secondhand from somewhere else and the story I am recalling is of someone else entirely and never recorded (or I haven't come across the correct entry, with so many on the site now, it's difficult to find one specific one if you are unsure where it's filed).

I remember the opening panels of cars on a roadside cliff and one going over the edge. Then I believe the bad guy kidnaps a surface woman leading the hero to track him for a confrontation ie the story goes in a completely different direction after that first page. Nor did the hero wear a costume, more of a plain clothes adventurer. If that rings any bells...

I reposted your query to the GCD group
