Skyman in my Bounty Hunter series. Take a look.
« on: July 23, 2008, 04:32:10 PM »

Hey everyone,

Just thought you'd like to take a look at a page from my upcoming comic series.  This features Rabid, Bounty Hunter and Columbia Comic's Skyman.

Let me know what you think of it.  (Rabid is the guy doing a tumble and BH is the guy standing with Skyman)
Art by Marc Olivent, Rabid created by Scott Claringbold and Marc Olivent.

Looks pretty good.  Please try to keep most of Skyman's character intact.  Do not do what DC does and use the name only of characters they acquire and none of the personality.

Don't worry.  He's staying purely Golden Age!  I plan to use him as a way to show the difference between super-heroes back then and nowadays.  Both seriously and for a few chuckles.

It's why I've been trying to track down as much of his original stuff as I can.

I still need help with the Skyman's history though.

Anybody out there know a lot about this character?  I can get his characterization right from the stories of his I've managed to track down, but I'd like to do the fanboy thing and drop mentions to events in his past, with Issue # editor notes and the like.

Free copies of every issue of BH for anyone who can help me out. :)

Thanks, but I found that already.  I mean a more indepth character "in-universe'" type biography.  I keep hearing about these Vulture-men that he fights, for example, but can't find anything anywhere about them.

Wow, that's great! Thanks for sharing! I like that piece of art, and I'm curious about the rest of the comic. Is it a webcomic or will it be published? Which is the publisher? Will there be a coloured version or is it intented to remain black & white?

I'm saving a few bucks to buy the issue anyway. ;)

Hey,

It's a black and white comic.  My comic company is called Capture Comics and I'll be getting it published through Ka-Blam.  I may get the trade of the complete series colored up, if I can afford it, when the series is complete.  It's only seven issues long, for now.

And thanks for saving up for it.  ;)

Black and white is already fine for me. ;) I'm gonna look for the best way to get it - living overseas, getting US independant comics at decent prices is no easy task.  :(

You can order a copy directly from me if you want, when the books come out.

Keep in mind, Skyman doesn't show up until around issue 2.  Issue 0 is what I'm working on right now, which is a War of the Independents tie-in, then # 1 kind of finishes up some loose plot threads from the 0 issue.  Then on  to the fun stuff. :)

Expect some new artwork from my BH/Celtic Shaman/Rabid team-up book soon.  Skyman plays a small part in that, as well as the regular BH series, so I'll post some pics ASAP.

The artwork I posted above is in the process of being colored right now, so hopefully I'll have that story out soon.

I have a one-page Bounty Hunter story that will be appearing in Dynamite Entertainment's Living Corpse: Exhumed #2, coming this September.  No Skyman in it, though.  Just thought I'd share, as I am super excited to FINALLY get something in print.  lol

Congrats!!! It is always exciting to obtain that "first in print" credit in the industry! I still remember the excitement I felt when my work showed up in Antarctic Press' Mangazine.

I encourage folks to support you by ordering the book...and I've pinned this topic for you in order for your updates to be seen more easily.

Again, congrats! Here's to the start of a long published career.  ;D

Great news BH. Is Living Corpse the Zenoscope series for v1?

Yeah, Volume 1 of the series was put out by Zenescope.  The Dynamite series picks up afterwards.  It's a new start, but also a continuation.

Does that make sense?  ;)

Check out the the first 4 pages at this link.

No BH sneak peak in the preview pages (would kind of defeat the purpose as it's only a one-pager lol).
