NotesWoolfolk credit from Martin O'Hearn at http://martinohearn.blogspot.com/ The story mentions Cortez and Aztec treasure, but Spain used the Camino de Cruces from Nuestra Señora de la Asunción de Panamá (present day Panama City, on the Pacific) to Nombre de Dios (on the Caribbean) to transport Incan silver from 1540 to 1595. The story should have cited Pizarro, not Cortez.
