Ah, another issue of THE FUNNIES here in the Random 12 - excellent! Alley Oop is in this one, too, along with a few other strips that were in the first issue I reviewed, but didn't mention - Mutt And Jeff and Captain Easy. I always liked Mutt and Jeff as a little kid, their stale, corny humor was a laugh riot to me when I was five or so. Here's an example from one of their DC appearances - Jeff: Hey, Mutt, do you stir youur coffee with your right hand or your left hand? Mutt: Why, my right hand, of course! Jeff: Tha's funny - I thought you used a spoon! Hilarious - when you're five. I didn't much go for Captain Easy as a kid, but seeing him here, not long after his Wash Tubbs days (I assume), I saw a lot more to like - in the way of art AND story! Alley Oop was his usual entertaining self, and this story seemed a bit more self-contained than the last one I saw - far out! And of course, we have another appearance by Sheldon Mayer's Scribbly - This character is really growing on me! All in all, a nice package for '30s comic strip lovers, let's do this again some time!
