Ah, "There is Room For One More", a classic! I first read it in an anthology of Bennet Cerf essays from the 1940s.

The front cover by Simon and Kirby is iconic and has been much reproduced, but the story it refers to ('The Thirteenth Floor') is not by them. The Simon and Kirby story which this issue does contain is called 'The Girl Who Walked On Water'. It may not be one of their all-time greatest, but it is certainly efficient enough, and the character of Anna does give it quite a touching emotional quality - not unlike a romance story. It is also beautifully drawn and coloured. A single panel from it features one of those classic Kirby underwater scenes, complete with the exaggerated bubbles and burgeoning underwater plant life. Enjoy!

Thank you for pointing out that story for me. Very different and a good story about the power of belief. incidentally, The BLACK MAGIC books are also on the site in BnW reprints in the British section.
