Story: The Creature From Dimension 2-K-31
A different concept of a story where scientists from separate dimensions monsters cross paths in the wormhole to cause havoc in the others.
I felt the story and the artwork were less than par as it seems that it was rushed in being created. Both the story and the art. (You will see that comparison when you read the second story)

Story: Nightmare
Eerie and unsettling story about a man who meets a sleeping and unusual man on the train. This story is rooted in realism at first, though you believe its going in the usual macabre plot, but it doesn't.
Story: The Thing, an all text pulp story that may not be predictable as it adds different elements to it as you read.
Story: Hellfire of Doom
Another story written in the style of the previous story Nightmare.
Color through out was atequate
I am grateful to be able to view the issues of The Thing as they seemed to elude me in the 50 plus years I have been reading comic books. Thank you Comic Book Plus!

| Original and sometimes unintentionally hilarious collection of stories in this premiere issue, especially the last story Hellfire of Doom. The artwork is good, but the writing reads like a bad Japanese translation, which makes it even more entertaining! |

| The thing #1 is as good as it gets. Not only is this a top quality scan, but the stories and art are superb. Once you suspend your disbelief and enter the world of "The Thing" you will not be disappointed. I laughed a bit reading this gem.
This comic made it's debut shortly after the release of "The Thing From Another World" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0044121/?ref_=fn_al_tt_3 . Look at the title plus the first story where the alien/weapon/peacekeeper shifts shape. An obvious adaptation with a twist.
John Carpenter's "The Thing" was a remake of that movie. Both publisher and producer were smart to cut off "From Another World." |
