Not as over-the-top as some other Avon Wood books, but a darned fine job. Interesting Craftint work on several pages. Check out the hotel sign on preview page 12, FU BAR, a reference to the famous WWII acronym "F'd Up Beyond All Repair." |

FUBAR (F.........ed/Fouled Up Beyond All Recognition/Any Repair/All Reason), like SNAFU and SUSFU, dates from World War II. The Oxford English Dictionary lists Yank, the Army Weekly magazine (1944, 7 Jan. p. 8) as its earliest citation: "The FUBAR squadron. FUBAR? It means 'F...........ed/Fouled Up Beyond All Recognition."
