I was just looking at RACKET SQUAD IN ACTION #11 this morning; I noticed that in the first story in this comic, the detective character is referred to as Captain Braddock instead of J. J. O'Malley. This was the name of the main character of the television series of the same name, and it's the only time I know of that that name appears in a comic book story.

Charlton's "Racket Squad in Action" wasn't licensed by the TV producers. It was one of many examples of Charlton following the latest trend (or, as some might say, ripping off the latest hot property). My guess is that the writer was familiar with the TV show and accidentally typed the TV character's name, and the editor missed it. Charlton certainly didn't bother to follow the TV format. I watched a lot of "Racket Squad" as a kid. The show was notable for NOT featuring blazing guns, crashing cars, and flying fists. Too boring for the comics, I guess. These stories are typical crime stories.

Genius Ditko Cover. You could write an essay on it. Pity it's in such bad condition.
