Roger and Gloria hire Bill’s boat for a cruise; when a storm blows up Roger panics, but Gloria helps Bill save them from sinking. They land on a deserted island. Roger turns into a “mad beast,” jealously attacking Bill. They’re all rescued by a passing ship in the nick of time. Gloria breaks up with Roger and will marry Bill.

Five years later, Doris sees a photo in the newspaper: it is Bill, now known as novelist Robert Crane. He contracted amnesia during the war and is engaged to an actress. Doris is hired as Bill’s secretary. Bill suffers a mental breakdown due to her presence, but eventually recovers his memory and he and Doris are reunited.

Bob marries Peggy instead. When Connie visits them, he and Connie rekindle their romance. However, Connie feels guilty for stealing Peggy’s husband and she rejects Bob once again, falsely claiming she doesn’t love him.

At the hideout, gangster Sledge makes a move on Ann and Jim is forced to knock him out. Ann and Jim flee, and realize they are in love. Jim confesses he’s an undercover federal agent, not a criminal.
