| Seems as if Treasure Chest had the best art among its contemporary comic books, and the scripts usually spoke to its readers instead of "talking down." Maybe it's because the kids of the 1950s were a little tougher or street-smart, being raised by a generation which had survived one or two world wars? Don't know, but this issue sure seems as if it's written for the more mature and thinking reader.
Not a Catholic (as if my e-mail address didn't give it away) but have always had a HUGE respect for this title. In the 1960s, I bought every issue that showed up at what we then called junk stores. In those days, used comics were a nickel each, so I read a lot of 'em! |
