She pursues new coworker Allan and he eventually confesses his love for her. Shelley even proposes marriage to Allan. Coworker Joan confronts Shelley and says Allan loves her. Allan confirms it, saying “every man likes to feel he’s doing the choosing.” Shelley gives up Allan and hopes someday to “find the happiness I pray for!”
