SynopsisAfter graduation, Abbie returns to her hometown but now considers it boring. She moves to New York and gets a job in a publishing firm. Abbie dates aspiring author Whit and allows him to use her apartment during the day to write. He was a fraud: they are both arrested and charged with running a gambling operation out of her apartment. Abbie’s lawyer Jim says only character witnesses can save her. Despite her snobbish behavior, Abbie’s hometown friends show up to testify and she is acquitted. She will also marry Jim.

The police raid the club but Norman breaks up with Connie, thinking she was in on the scam. However, Norman and Connie eventually reconcile.
