This particular sequence was drawn by Calkins' assistant Zack Mosley. Within the year Mosley would start his own strip, "On the Wing," which eventually morphed into "Smilin' Jack." The strange thing is that Mosley seems to draw better in these strips than he did later on "Jack." He always drew great planes, though.
