Thank You

A good mystery with nice artwork. Apparently Vera was a continuing character. The baby-talk got tiresome but otherwise I enjoyed this one greatly. One thing...for the first half-dozen or so pages I thought Sonny was a girl! I only caught on when a caption referred to "the boys."

Clearly Sonny is trans – showing once again how forward looking and inclusive SPL has always been. Terrific story – moves quite quickly with competent art. The usual story of an outsider with a sinister male presence (goodness, middle class girls from the fifties must have all grown up traumatised if all they read was SPL) and naturally a treasure to behold. Excellent entertainment – and with a first-class performance from the hamster! I had planned on leaving this one until a bit closer to Christmas but as Crash had leaped in early, it was too hard to resist.

Yes, I was hit by the same question, wondering why the narrative and dialogue referred to the children as "boys", when the little one was clearly a girl. There are no artist credits listed, but clearly, the artist was a female. Despite being all alone when reading this, I had to laugh out loud when reading the little boy's dialogue, with his strong lisp, that kept reminding me of hearing Mel Blanc's superb "Elmer Fudd"!!! That cartoon image kept taking me out of "Living inside" this story.

Seems to be signed on the cover, R, something, D? Maybe Red, or just the artist's initials? Anyone know of any possible British authors that might match?

The cover artist is R B Davis. Can't name the story artist.

Thanks!
