I'd love to see an explainer for this book. Clearly many of the characters are real society folk whom the reader is expected to recognize.

Only identified one so far: "the young man in plaid trousers who represents literature in this show is none other than Mr. Richard Harding Davis." See page 9 of the scan.

I am guessing that the guy on the title page (pg. 2 of scan) wearing the newspaper "hat" and slippers is Joseph Pulitzer.
