Edited by family sized Fred Cordwell of Film Fun fame, Fun and Fiction was an attempt to come up with an all-ages unisex story paper through then-radical devices like "not making 80% of it about posh boarding school kids" and "having female protagonists". Naturally there's a George Wakefield cartoon in there, and I think Daisy Dimple on the back page is by Hal Ludlow. Of particular note is the breathless hype for every single story; while this seems OTT, it's actually a cultural thing - in Britain for the first half of the 20th century papers and comics were often swapped between readers, and on the journey various people would swipe pages, so every opportunity is taken to flag up the source so prospective new readers would know where to go. Perhaps a bit too radical (relatively speaking), the title never really took off, only lasting a couple of years before being reworked as The Firefly, which didn't last long either before being turned into a comic. However, a lot of the concepts and style of F&F were later used as a starting point for The Bullseye.
