| Notes | The first Charlie Chan comic book was published by Prize Comics, featuring covers by the legendary duo Jack Kirby and Joe Simon. Other contributors to the series included Carmine Infantino, Charles Nicholas, and Dick Briefer. Under Prize Comics, a total of five issues were released. Following Prize’s run, the title was taken over by Charlton Comics, which published an additional four issues. The first of these Charlton issues once again featured a cover by Kirby and Simon, with some interior stories illustrated by Charles Nicholas. Charlton planned a tenth issue, but ultimately lost the license before it could be published. A cover for the unissued tenth issue had already been created by Dan Barry, but it was never used. In addition, one story that had been produced for the series was later repurposed and altered into a pastiche featuring a detective named Louie Lou. | |||
