As it is nurses first, we start with Betsy Crane, who debuted in Teen Secret Diary June 1961. The next issue saw the title changed to Nurse Betsy Crane. A swift, but richly deserved promotion for such a selfless woman.

Betsy Crane's caring and dedication can only be matched, by another nurse Cynthia Doyle. If only Dr. Edward Benson would realize that Cynthia is head over heels in love with him. Betsy and Cynthia appeared together in Registered Nurse a reprint 1963 one-shot.

For heartthrobs you need look no further than The Young Doctors, aka Doctor Burke and Doctor Landon. Landon is a surgeon and Burke a psychiatrist. The two do not get along, but in every story they put aside their differences for the good of the Metro Hospital and its patients.

Working in the same hospital is a young intern, Doctor Tom Brent. In his own title he deals with the most difficult of cases, normally single-handed. Unfortunately, his career was cut short with the fifth and final issue.
