| Whoever did the 'Additional Information' on these, didn't work very hard.
The first story here is by Manny Stallman. [signed.]

The 'four cartoons about war' are signed lee/Shertz - which may be too names- or just a gag name. [Shirts?!]
No idea who did 'Hooch and Pooch' but the style is highly reminiscent of Dr Seuss!
He never did comics did he?
'Hop and Pop' is clearly signed Lee Shertz.
Gems of Fun is signed Hal Sher..[indecipherable].
'Ella' is another that looks like Dr Seuss.
'The Legend of Superstitious Al-o-ysius'
has A.F. in the lower left corner of the first panel.
A strange mix, but not a bad comic.
Anybody care to update Lambiek?
It states of Manny Stallman,
'He teamed up with John Giunta'
Stallman and Giunta clearly had a lot to do with SPOTLIGHT publications, but Lambiek doesn't mention SPOTLIGHT.

| (1) The monkey and dogs in "Hooch and Pooch" look a slight bit like Dr. Seuss' style. But the soldiers and backgrounds don't look like his at all, in comparing them to Geisel's comic strip work, and his children's books. I really doubt they were drawn by him.
(2) Dr. Seuss (Theodore Geisel), wrote and drew a comic strip for King Features during 1935, titled "Hejji".
And, If I remember correctly, he worked in animation with Warner Brothers during WWII, writing and storyboarding military training films, US propaganda films, the Private Snafu Films - (showing soldiers what not to do), and public service films on saving resources for The US War Effort. But, I don't remember seeing anything about his having worked in the comic book industry. I've never even heard of his "Hejji" strip being collected in book form.
(3) That looks like it might be Hal Sherman. I'm pretty sure I've seen that name in 1940s animation and comic book or comic strip credits.
(4) Ella the elephant doesn't look, to me, at all like Seuss' style. The monkeys look a slight bit like his, but the backgrounds don't look at all like his work.

| That isn't Our Gang on the cover... but it sure looks like it was inspired by those little rascals! It's very reminiscent of the kind of impromptu circuses the Gang was known to put together. |
