Includes Will Eisner story "Muss 'Em Up", starting on page 50. |
the whole book kinda reads like a pre batman issue of detective comics which is a good thing love the will eisner muss em up story lol |
it's interesting that this book is called Keen detective funnies because it is very different from the funnies style comic books prevelent at this time. The book has complete adventure stories with very nice art that comes to a creshendo when you finally get to Muss EM up a brilliant Will Eisner comic.
This book was kind of ideological in that all the villians were foriegners either asian, south American or Aztecs being easily fooled and manipulated by a nefarious white guy. Eisner's story was about a cop celebrated for the level of his brutality and it seems like Eisner really raised the level of darkness and brutality in comics with this story, I think it pre dates the emergence of Film Noir by several years. |
