However, Steve refuses to elope with Rita, saying “our marriage must start out right!” Rita breaks up with him, then hears Steve is dating the mayor’s daughter. Rita’s parents can’t “stand the idea of any boy walking out on you,” so they withdraw their objections to Steve and Rita’s romance. |
