Look at that game advertised on p. 67! "Bomb Tokyo", the game. That's...even by the standards of World War II American propaganda that's sort of disturbing. |

Reminds me of something I'd long forgot...back in the 50s it was common for kids doing cannonball dives into the pool to yell, "Bombs over Tokyo!" Creepy. |

I've just gotten to this book. Yup, I saw that "Bomb Tokyo" game. Imagine that: American kids were playing a game sorta like our somewhat current day, "Battle Ship", or "Broadside" or "Dogfight"; while the little Japanese school children were being taught-FOR REAL-how to spear, maim and kill the American invaders, with bamboo spears, should they ever land on the Japanese homeland. Oh my! |
