I was just a kid of thirteen when I found this issue in a seedy second hand bookstore. I couldn't believe my eyes: what surrealistic horror, extreme cruelty, magic imagination in absolutely brilliant graphics by somebody named Ditko. I was totally fascinated. Later I found some issues of Space Adventures with Ditko's art, but that was already the age of Comic's Code, and they didn't have quite the same impact. Meanwhile I got my kicks from MAD and other EC-comics. Then many years later I lost my modest but to me precious collection of comic books when moving. Some obnoxious slime ball stole the lot. The memory of the beautiful books has haunted me all my life, so you can imagine, how happy I was seeing my old dears again here with more Ditko stuff for good measure. I have also collected Ditko's bizarre work over the years. Blessed be that utterly crazy genius!

Indeed. This THING stuff is some of the best Ditko there is.
