Avon's concept of (what was nominally) a science fiction anthology title was sort of an amalgamation of a little of everything. In the first issue, we have Kenton of the Star Patrol and Crom the Barbarian, which seem to be intended as ongoing feature characters, as in Fiction House's PLANET COMICS. Then you had the typical one-shot anthology stories, like in EC's WEIRD SCIENCE. But the whole thing was really a mixed bag of genres, mostly sf, but broad enough to encompass horror/suspense ("Dead Man's Tale") as well as epic fantasy of the Robert E. Howard type ("The Spider-God of Akka"). By the second issue, the comic was made up of ALL fantasy stories in the 'barbarian' mode (except for a 3-page text "story behind the cover"), including what seems like either a leftover inventory story or the introduction of what was intended to be another ongoing feature character, "Dara of the Vikings". In the 3rd issue they'd broaden the selection even further to include historical fantasy (that unpublished Malu story intended for SLAVE GIRL #3).
