The art on Ray's story reminds me of Bob Fujitani. And I'm pretty sure that's him. The faces, the eyes, and especially the rat's teeth all say Bob Fuji to me. The GCD says it's Lou Fine but I wouldn't say it's Fine's art. |

Comic Story | Who Is Monsieur Le Rat? (9 pages) |
Synopsis | In Syria, Happy and Bud meet Sue Saunders of a rival newspaper, and uncovers a French surveillance device disguised as the giant Monsieur le Rat.
After Happy becomes a war correspondent, he couldn't afford to take Bud with him on his adventures. Astonishingly, Bud threatens to reveal the Ray's true identity to the world if Happy refuses to take him along... so Happy caves in. |
Content | Genre: Superhero | Characters: Bud; Sue Saunders (newspaper woman); Monsieur Le Rat (villain, surveillance device) |
Notes | The art must be Fujitani: the faces, the eyes, the bodies and the way cloth twirls all indicate it must be him instead of Lou Fine (as was previously credited). Some panels, though, might be partially Lou Fine's work, especially the very detailed ones (e.g. the camel's face). This is very likely because in his article in Alter Ego (TwoMorrows, 1999 series) #127 (August 2014), Ken Quattro states that, by issue #30 of Smash, Fine was collaborating with new Quality artist Bob Fujitani. |
