SynopsisRich Wenda and her boyfriend Rex are caught hunting on Dave’s land without permission. He is adamantly opposed to hunting. Rex is accidentally shot as he and Wenda continue to hunt, and Dave takes them to his cabin to await medical help. Wenda learns Dave is a decorated veteran and thus understands his dislike of killing. Dave shoots a rattlesnake to save Wenda. Rex readily gives up his claim on her, and she will marry Dave instead.

Lana and Don fall in love, but he says marriage is out of the question and Lana thinks he’s already married. She dates Hal on the rebound, but he’s a cad and Lana must be rescued by Don. Don introduces her to his widowed mother; his father committed suicide and Don feels obliged to pay his father’s debts before he can marry. Lana insists they get married and share the burden, and they do.

Jan says she can help out; the dubious Mrs. Shane says Jan should move in with them before the wedding as a test. The older woman works Jan mercilessly; Jan suspects Mrs. Shane isn’t really as helpless as she claims. Jan tries to trick Mrs. Shane into revealing her true state of health by starting a fire, but this doesn’t work. However, Jed overhears his mother telling Jan that she’ll never allow her son to get married and leave her. Jed and Jan wed and Mrs. Shane has a “miraculous recovery.”

Sally feels disrespected by Gary’s snobbish mother, but his crusty grandmother says she was a waitress when her husband was just starting out, so everything works out in the end.
