CoverThe Amazing Boy Richy the Rang-A-Tang Kid!

Comic StoryRichy, the Amazing Boy (11 pages)
SynopsisRang-a-Tang the wonder dog and his handler, detective Hy Speed, are brought in to protect movie star Harly Shaplyn, who's making a movie mocking "the European madman." Bundonians loyal to the foreign leader try to prevent the film production. Hy is injured but former child star Richy and Rang-a-Tang team up to foil the enemy scheme.
ContentGenre: Animal; Children; Crime | Characters: Richy Waters [Richy, the Amazing Boy] (introduction); The Bundonians (villains, introductions); Harly Shaplyn; Hy Speed; Sam Wyngold
NotesClearly "Harly Shaplyn" = Charlie Chaplin, and the story obliquely references his anti-Hitler film "The Great Dictator." Other pseudonyms include "Sam Wyngold" (Sam Goldwyn) and "Stark Brable" (Clark Gable, only referenced, not shown). Rang-a-Tang himself is obviously a reference to Rin-Tin-Tin. Richy Waters does not replace Hy Speed as Rang-a-Tang's human assistant, as they both continued to appear in the series.
