In 1938, the US Depression was bad for the circus business. Most of the large Circuses failed. The 1938 season also finished off the Tom Mix Circus. But it was successful from 1934 to 1937. Tom Mix had done what no other Movie Cowboy accomplished. Buck Jones, Ken Maynard and Tim McCoy all tried their hand at operating a Circus; all failed. After World War II, many Movie Cowboys appeared in Circuses (after their screen career was over with). They included Hopalong Cassidy, The Lone Ranger, Lash LaRue, etc.
