When Brad is offered a promotion back to their hometown, Betsy convinces him to turn it down, and he’s fired as a result. Betsy fears Brad will return to Joyce, but he says he never loved her. Betsy also arranges for Brad to get his job back. |

They fall in love, but Rita decides to steal him away. When Miles doesn’t succumb, Rita threatens to commit suicide. She survives and apologizes for her actions. |
