Simon and Kirby's "The Short Dangerous Life of Packy Smith" was my favorite. Kirby's action portfolio often overshadows his great character cartooning. He has a field day with thug-like people and tells a good story. Some of the other writing is kinda thin...the one about the guy pointing his finger might be just about the worst excuse for a plot ever! Haha, but the early Infantino art is nice, and you can see the S&K influence. And what can you say about a story where the superhero can only appear when the fat detective protagonist lights a homemade cigar? I don't see why that would be a bad story for kids, right? Anyway, the art is the star in this issue...enjoy!

NotesBails (http://www.bailsprojects.com/WhosWho.aspx) credits Ed Wheelan with the "Clubby" feature but lists it as appearing in Harvey publications in 1940-49. This cannot be confirmed, however this particular story is clearly drawn by Wheelan.
