Benjamin Milam, noted Texas hero, was the only person to own a United States river. Congress gave him the Colorado River in 1835. It probably didn't matter whether the old fellow was a good ruler or not. The issue was that he seemed to be on the verge of ruling forever. He was King Alaungsithu of ancient Burma, who ruled from 1075 to 1160, a remarkably long reign of 85 years. King Alaungsithu would have ruled even longer, but he was murdered by his own son, Narathu, who was afraid his father would rule forever. Believe It or Not!
