The daughter of the king commanded a fabulous dowry, which dazzled all the crowned heads. Isabel Luiz, daughter of Dom Pedro II of Portugal, was considered such a catch. At the age of eight, an emperor, ten princes, two dukes and two bishops demanded her hand in marriage. She turned them all down, and in 1690 she died, an old spinster of 21. Believe It or Not!
