The high chair used by King James I of England as an infant, now preserved at Aloha, Scotland, bears a remarkable resemblance to high chairs used today, nearly 400 years later. The woeful statue of La Dolorosa, the Lady of Sorrows in the Cathedral of Mercy of Spain, was carved by the celebrated Spanish sculptor Francisco Salzillo. He used his daughter as a model. In order to trick her into registering the proper amount of grief, the artist handed his daughter a forged letter announcing the suicide of the man she was engaged to marry. The shock nearly broke the young woman's heart. Salzillo sketched his daughter's sorrow and then explained the trick. Believe It or Not!
