| Synopsis | When a young scuba diver was found murdered, his equipment tampered with, it appeared to be the work of a fellow diver. I questioned him at length. "I don't think you can prove I did anything to his equipment", he said confidently. "Besides, I rather think he panicked in the deep water and tried to get to the surface in a hurry." Sounds like a good alibi, doesn't it? It was for a while, I replied, "but you're guilty of murder." I'll tell you why. In the case of the deep sea murder, the suspect knew you cannot surface quickly from a deep dive. His statement that the victim tried to get to the surface in a hurry proved his guilt. He shouldn't have made that statement. He hasn't made many more, either! | ||||
