| Synopsis | I had a late call from a philanthropist named Carter who said he had received an old diary that was of great historical importance. He asked me to examine it, and I did. Written in a lady's hand, the diary described the meetings of the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia with marvelously written eyewitness accounts of the events. I turned the diary back and said, the lady writes well, but it's a fake. I'll tell you why. In the case of the lady spectator, the sessions of the Constitutional Convention at Philadelphia were held in secret. She couldn't have been an observer, so whoever wrote the diary didn't bone up on history! | ||||
