Laura clears their names by revealing that they are man and wife, and discovers she really loves Dick.

Although she says “It’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard,” Ruth agrees to follow his advice with Jeff, alternately acting like an “iceberg” and friendly towards him. Jeff says he’s leaving for Australia. Dr. King: “I don’t understand how this could happen.” Ruth “You’ve ruined my life!” However, Jeff proposes marriage at the last minute and he and Ruth will live happily ever after, in Australia.
