I've seen this before but it's good to see it again. More than anything it shows how copyright law has shifted in the last fifty years towards corporate control.
At least in the US, you have the 95 year rule - though it should be more like 70 - in the UK we don't even have that.
Many creators - uneconomic to publish on a profit basis - fall into an abyss during the Death+70 copyright period. They are forgotten and their works may never be seen again.
When I contacted the UK's Intellectual Property Office, I was told 'We must abide by the Bern Convention' - 'But the Bern Convention says Death+50,' I said, 'That's still true in Canada'
"Yes, but later legislation amended that," "So why can't that now be unamended?"
That's when they rang off.
