An interesting curio. I was surprised to find a helicopter in a story from 1910, since I knew the first practical helicopter flew in the late 1930s. But research told me that French inventors made unsuccessful helicopter experiments in 1907. So Nick Carter was right up to date.
I also enjoyed the Inspector's slangy, hard-boiled dialogue in Chapter One. Overdone, but ahead of its time.
