Great Hitler cover!
   By
Damn. I guess I should have known better, but I was hoping there would be an actual story explaining that cover situation. Granted that most covers on which Hitler, Himmler, or Goering appeared are symbolic -- but most of those images are self-explanatory. This one is such an unusual concept that it raises all sorts of questions. Obviously Hitler is still alive at this point in 1944, so how can he be appearing as an evil genie conjured out of a giant Aladdin's lamp? And why would this group of all-American looking lads (the Junior Rangers) be conjuring up a genie from a giant antique lamp in the first place? Aren't genies supposed to grant wishes and/or be the benevolent servants of whomever releases them from the lamp? Was the artist reaching for some kind of metaphor here that I just fail to grasp??
