She decides to leave town but is badly injured in a car accident; the insurance pays for plastic surgery on her face. Helen confesses to Johnny that she had a scar before, proving she’s an honest person. They will be married. |

Claire confesses all to John, and he admits he knew what she was doing, but loved her anyway. He sets her free to reunite with Steve. |

Peggy tells Lee she’d like to keep working and have her mother live with them after the wedding, but he says her family are “leeches!” Peggy pretends to be sick and confronts her mother and sister with their selfishness. They apologize and Peggy will now marry Lee and be happy. |
