Per the newspaper photograph appearing in the Sunday, September 17, 1944, edition of the Sunday Argus-Leader of Sioux-Falls, South Dakota newspaper on page 12 entitled "Draws Thrilling Comic Books Covers" is a brief mention of "Pvt. Al Bryant" showing artwork of the comic book covers he drew, including this one (https://www.newspapers.com/article/argus-leader/84834922/).
