Where's the Jack Kirby? I don't see his style-- |

mjb, check out "The Count of Monte Cristo." Look at the character faces on page 16, especially the old man. You have to compare them to Kirby's 40s/early-50s style, not his 60s+ style.It's Jack all right. Another tipoff is the hands. Like the man's hand in the last panel of page 15; it's the semi-formless open hand that Kirby drew his entire life.
It's odd seeing very early Kirby. At first he was heavily influenced by "illustration-style" artists like Raymond and Foster. But it wasn't long before his personal style burst through.
Now can someone tell me who "Dennis Colebrook" is? |
