Giordano is now adding more continuity and multi-part stories to perhaps attract the Marvel reader? It must have been an exciting thing to do, knowing you were fighting to just be the #3 comics publisher. Ditko's art seems more hurried than usual, though, and I wonder if there was too much pressure to keep up his output. Still I continue to admire the weird fantasy aspects of this character. The Blue Beetle story adds another side to this new Charlton universe.
Well, its a business and in any business you take a look at the opposition, particularly if they are doing well, and see what you can change to keep up with them. Ditko? Well, you are right, he was doing a lot of work at that point. He was also doing short pieces for 'The Many Ghosts of Doctor Graves' 'Scary Tales' and others. But I wonder if the knowledge of Charlton's lousy production standards made him cut corners at times. Even Sam Glanzman's Hercules for Charlton is substandard. I am a huge fan of Sam, but Hercules to me is nearly unreadable because of the low production standard. cheers!

I don't know at what point Charlton decided that Captain Atom would look better in a bright yellow uniform rather than the old one that looked like gold and bronze. Or at what point they thought Mastroserio inking Ditko's stuff really worked. And Ditko put so much into creating a viable reworking of the Blue Beetle only to blow it all by going all Ayn Rand on our asses...it was probably a weird time to be Steve Ditko...
