SynopsisNora has “petit mal,” a “light form of epilepsy” and says “I’m different from other people! There is no life for me!” She spends the summer in the country with her parents and meets Jeff. They date and fall in love. Nora explains away her occasional fainting spells, fearing Jeff will leave her if he knows the truth. Instead, he leaves her because of her lies. Returning home in the fall, Nora changes her way of living and makes friends and has a social life, her “illness was accepted and shrugged aside as of little consequence.” Jeff shows up and they are reunited.

Laine sets up dummy corporations and pays Katie to be listed as president. Jim urges Katie to quit and she agrees, but decides to keep working a bit longer to achieve her savings goal. Jim finds out and breaks up with her due to her “lies, deceit, dishonesty.” Katie turns herself in to the authorities and is sentenced to probation. Jim returns and they reconcile.
