The logic in Tears for Two is truly warped. Man loses his job because his employer is jealous his wife's parents make "too much money". So it's all the wife's fault instead of the company being out of bounds snoops. |

The story about Mark Twain and Olivia Langdon left out an interesting aspect of their relationship. Sam Clemens was a dyed-in-the-wool cusser and Olivia, of a much more demure nature, was forever trying to break him of the habit, as well as trying to get him to give up smoking and booze. Spoiler: it didn't work. One famous story: Clemens cut himself shaving and let off a string of grade-A cursing. Thinking to shock him into sensibleness, Olivia turned to him and repeated the entire lecture to his face. For a moment Twain was speechless, then he told her, "My dear, you have the lyrics right but I'm afraid you'll never get the tune." |
