Note the editor's matter-of-fact comment for "Venus or Earth:" "We hear much more about...Mars than...Venus, even though the latter is as habitable and closer to Earth." Growing up in the 50s we were all convinced the Venusian clouds hid prehistoric swamps and other neat stuff. How wrong we were.
